I never thought creating a description about your own site is this hard, considering you already know what is going on and what you want to say. It may be due to my writing skill, which I admitted really bad. It’s so bad that it dragged down my GPA back in college.
Back to Dripp.net, a social networking service that focuses on automotive audience with a goal to provide a resourceful user-driven content, related to automotive technology, racing, motorsports, tuning, or as simple as daily maintenance how-to’s. The service itself consists of multi-discipline services, such as: catalog, marketplace (classified and comparison shopping), social networking, photos sharing, article distribution, and discussion board. That’s a lot to cover in a single compact paragraph to explain the whole thing. So, here’s what I come up with:
Dripp.net - Online Community of Drivers, Cars and Performance Part - with a mission to organize automotive contents related to cars and products.
By taking advantage of Dripp.net Car & Product Tagging features, users are able to organize contents based on cars or products info, as described within the content. The contents can be anything as general as personal blog posts, or industry news, or something as specific as “a product installation how-to on a specific car model.”
I believe the paragraph pretty much covers what we do in general, since we have so many features to do the things we mentioned above.
Update 3: (Perfecting) The User Experience
Our number one goal is to create a simple and straight-ahead user interface and experience. AJAX is definitely a big help, but we are trying not to have it too much that creates radical changes against beginners.
User Registration Flow
Problem: Our previous issue was users were too ‘happy’ being presented with another action requesting pages (Add a Car, and User Profile page) that they forgot about account validation step. Our solution is to introduce a more visible warning bars, while making sure users cannot perform actions that unregistered users cannot do.
Result: It works, and number of unactivated accounts are decreasing totally.
Managing Car Modifications (and Uploading Car Photos)
Problem: Users found it difficult in how to upload photos and manage modifications on their cars, because the required pages are separated from edit car pages. Our solution is to provide upload photo module in edit car page, which allows users to upload photos and apply (related) car tag on the spot. However, manage modifications issue is still not working that well.
Result: More car related photos are uploaded on first time.
